Endangered Animals of Morocco - exhibition summary / video clip

October 2011 saw the opening of my first solo show in Morocco, 'ENDANGERED ANIMALS OF MOROCCO', held at the established cultural centre of arts and music in Essaouira, Dar Souiri.  Please see a list of their current events at www.association-essaouiramogador.org/.  The exhibition included drawings and watercolours of the Barbary Macaques from the Cedar Forests in the North of Morocco as well as a series of larger paintings in acrylic and silver leaf showing the wildlife of the Saharan Desert.

We had a great reception at the private view and 2M, the national Moroccan television channel, broadcast a review of the exhibition in the weekly cultural high-lights feature of their news programme, please watch the short interview below.

Mokrane Bouzid a renowned painter from Algeria and Houssein Miloudi, one of Morocco's most revered artists were among those that attended the opening, here is a picture of Houssein Miloudi standing with me in front of 'Spur-Thighed Tortoise with Tuareg Patterns'.

Petit Art Petit, a local art workshop brought two groups of children to visit the exhibition, they had a great time learning about the animals and making drawings of their favourite paintings.  Essaouira is a small town with a big artistic community and I hope that the children will continue to be inspired by their country's wildlfe and grow up to value the importance of their natural heritage.  Please click on the following post to view a selection of the drawings made by the children during the exhibition.

It has been a wonderful experience collaborating on the organisation of my first exhibition in Morocco, I'll now continue to work on new paintings featuring the wildlife inhabiting the northern forests to be shown in a solo show in Fez, during the WORLD SACRED MUSIC FESTIVAL in June 2012.

Many of the new paintings and watercolours can be viewed in the Gallery section of my website or Facebook page.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like any info, prices, or if you have any other questions regarding the work.

Many thanks for your continued support and interest!
